Info Block will deliver to you, at a regular interval, a database that relates your product codes and supplier product codes to the relevant information on the manufacturer’s site. All your organisation then needs to do is build the display options into your website to make the best use of this information.
Depending on the industry, the information may include; product descriptions, product images, links to product pages, product specifications, product requirements, product or industry white papers, comparison charts and links to much more. Initially our operators gather the information based on you supplying your sell-through products. Then, based on your direction, we prioritise your manufacturers. The agreement we will have with you will ensure that we are never more than a month behind on obtaining information on your behalf for products that you have sold if you notify us of the product code, product description and we can find information existing on unsecured manufacturer or wholesales pages on the web. The database itself will depend on the complexity of your web environment and quantity of codes available for your products.
The Process
We will push to you, via email, a flat file spreadsheet at an agreed interval. The file format will remain consistent unless 90 days notice is given in writing to yourself (email is considered written notice). With regards to version control, the files we have available for you will either be in the current marketed version of the product we use or one version behind.
The data in the database is constantly updated, but unfortunately for both organisations, manufacturers sites are also constantly upgraded. We have built tools that track the validity of URL’s that we offer you to link back to at the vendors sites and where we are aware of a large scale manufacturer change to the design of their website, we will notify you within 7 days. Where there are small scale changes we will update our database and you will be able to update your details the next time you update your records.
